POLICE have named a man who died after he was struck by a lorry on tbe A650 dual carriageway in the Carr Gate area of Wakefield last Wednesday afternoon.

Pedestrian Mohammed Ashfaq, 53, of Batley, suffered fatal injuries when he was hit by the lorry on the A650 near its junction with Kenmore Road just after 4pm on Wednesday August 13.

Mr Ashfaq was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the stretch of the A650 between the Vine Tree roundabout at Newton Bar and Carr Gate while investigations were carried out at the scene.

Police today (Tuesday August 19) said enquiries are ongoing and are continuing to appeal for witnesses to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.
