Man dies after Leeds A1 horror car smash UPDATED

A man has died following a crash on the A1 near Wetherby which injured two others.

As reported in Saturday’s YEP, the men were travelling in a dark silver Mercedes which left the road and collided with a barrier on the southbound carriageway.

It is believed the vehicle rolled a number of times before coming to rest on the road.

The driver, who is believed to be from Hertfordshire, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash at 12.45pm on Friday.

The two other male passengers, believed to be from London and Essex, were rescued from the vehicle by fire crews and were taken to Harrogate District Hospital.
