Man dead, another fights for life after Leeds car smash

A two-car smash in Leeds last night has left one man dead and another critically injured.

The crash on Beeston Road, Beeston, involved a red Skoda Fabia travelling in the direction of Old Lane which collided with a white Mitsubishi L200 which was travelling in the opposite direction at around 8.40pm.

The front seat passenger in the Skoda was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the Skoda, a 23-year-old man from Armley, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.

He is currently in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 36-year-old man from Armley, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries and has since been released from hospital.

Any witnesses or anyone who saw the movements of either the Skoda or the Mitsubishi before the collision, is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 0845 6060606.
