Police have arrested a 26-year-old man after a woman was allegedly grabbed and pushed to the ground before an attempted sex assault in Leeds.

The 24-year-old victim was walking towards the city centre along Lovell Park Road, near the flyover with the A64, when the attacked took place just after 5am yesterday (August 10).

The victim managed to flee the scene and get away from the suspect - a white male aged in his early 20s who was wearing a grey and black hooded top and a black baseball cap.

Police said they had now made an arrest and they have released a CCTV image of the suspect to encourage witnesses to the incident to contact them.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Spencer, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We are releasing this CCTV image of the suspect to encourage witnesses to come forward but would also encourage females who may have been subjected to similar incidents in and around the Lovell Park Road area to contact police.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Leeds CID via 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
