David Holgate, 34, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court today (March 13) charged with murder.

Holgate, of Bodmin Road, Middleton, spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth during the brief hearing.

The court clerk told Holgate that the case could only be dealt with at a Crown Court.

The case was committed to Leeds Crown Court, where Holgate will appear on Wednesday.

No pleas were entered and no application was made for bail. Holgate was returned to custody until his next court appearance.
