Man, 57, held after body of woman found under empty car

A man was arrested after a woman was found lying dead under his car.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was discovered underneath an empty Vauxhall Omega on Prospect Street in Cleckheaton in the early hours of Sunday.

Police and paramedics were called at 12.03am, but she was confirmed dead a short time later.

A 57-year-old man – believed to be the owner – was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. He has been released on bail.

Police are now asking for the public’s help.

Det Chief Insp Adrian Taylor, said: “This investigation is in its early stages and we are still establishing the circumstances of the incident. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Prospect Street around this time who has any information which could aid the ongoing investigation.”
