TAKE more than 100 acts, just under a dozen venues and a small army of music lovers and what have you got?
Live at Leeds 2011, that’s what.
The annual celebration of the city’s indie rock scene will take place this year from Friday April 29 to Sunday May 1, organisers have announced.
Its middle day will see 90 acts playing shows spread across 11 Leeds venues, including The Cockpit, The Faversham and Brudenell Social Club. And the good news for fans is that the purchase of a single £17.50 wristband will allow them to attend as many of the day’s concerts as they like.
Local artists in the Saturday line-up include Pulled Apart By Horses, Honour Before Glory and Stalking Horse. Anna Calvi, The Duke Spirit, Young Knives and The Whip are coming from further afield.
The Bank Holiday weekend bash’s opening day will feature a guest speaker-packed music business seminar, which is being staged in partnership with the University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University.
Details have yet to be released about the acts performing on the Friday and Sunday.
Simon Stevens, from the Futuresound music events firm behind Live at Leeds, said: “The feedback from 2010 was fantastic and we’re all really looking forward to 2011. We’ve got some amazing performances and workshops taking place across the weekend.”
