Leeds United goalkeeper Alex Cairns has paid tribute to his younger brother who was killed in a car crash in South Yorkshire.
Blake Cairns, 16, was one of five teenagers killed in a two-car collision at Conisbrough on Saturday.
The footballer took to social networking website Twitter yesterday and thanked the public for their support following the crash.
He said: “Would like to thank you all.
“ We love him we always will love him words can’t describe what he means to this family.
“Love you Baby bro.”
Leeds United Football Club’s Academy earlier tweeted: “Our thoughts are with Alex Cairns and his family at this difficult time.
“Sending strength and love from the LUFC family. A tragedy for all.”
Danum Academy headteacher Rebecca Staples paid tribute to each of those who died.
She said: “Blake was great fun.
“He had a huge network of friends and was a very sporty boy. He represented the school in football teams.
“He had a real presence; a lovely cheeky boy who had great relationships with staff.”
