Leeds United fan arranges Thorp Arch visit for widowed partner's children whose father died in action

A Leeds United supporter arranged a poignant day out for his girlfriend's children - whose father was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

Samantha Davidson was widowed when her husband Sgt Lee Davidson died in action six years ago. The couple had three children - Jayden, Jamie and Amelia.

Samantha's new partner, Scott Plant, wrote to Leeds United to arrange a special day out for the family in memory of Lee, who served with the Light Dragoons.

Scott had been hoping to surprise the children with a Leeds United poppy-themed shirt dedicated to their late father, but instead the family were invited to spend the day at the club's base and meet their heroes. They travelled from their home in Doncaster to the Thorp Arch training ground

Kemar Roofe and Luke Ayling presented the Davisons with a signed shirt with their surname on the back as well as signed boots. Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Kalvin Phillips, Adam Forshaw and Liam Cooper met the children and Gjanni Alioski even had a kick-about with them on the indoor pitch.

Jayden, Jamie and Amelia are all huge Leeds United fans.
