THE BEST bits of Leeds have been highlighted in a brand new video to help kick off the Rugby World Cup celebrations.
The city will host two games at Elland Road on September 26 and 27 as part of the event, which is set to be one of the biggest tournaments in world of sport this year.
VisitLeeds has launched a video featuring famous local sportsmen to showcase the city’s passion for the event and encourage visitors.
The ‘Leeds: Truly, Madly, Rugby’ video is part of a campaign by Leeds and Partners to raise the profile of the city.
Stuart Lancaster, head coach of England RFU, features in the video.
He said: “As a Leeds resident who has long been associated with Leeds Rugby and Headingley Stadium, it’s great to see the excitement and passion building around Rugby World Cup 2015 coming to Leeds.
“I hope rugby fans from across the world take the time to experience some of the amazing things in my home city.”
Leeds will host the Canada vs Italy game on September 26 and Scotland vs USA on September 27.
The event is estimated to have an economic impact of £53million on Leeds, according to a report by EY on behalf of the Organising Committee for the Rugby World Cup, which also stated around 20,000 people could flock to the city for the matches.
Leeds is one of 13 cities across England and Wales that will be a host city for the event.
