Leeds Roller Dolls have come a long way since they were founded in 2007, as Yorkshire’s first roller derby league - and they are soon to go a lot further.

Later this year, they will travel to America to take on three top US teams over the course of a weekend’s tournament in Florida in a bid to rise in the global rankings.

But they have to raise £8,000 to get there, and with a competitive team and recreational and junior leagues back at home, they will need to continually fundraise to make sure they can build on the experience.

A team captain Hayley Avron said: “Roller derby is generating so much momentum and being taken more and more seriously.”
