Lucky Leeds youngsters were the envy of their pals as they got a magical taste of life in Santa’s workshop.
Pupils from Middleton St Mary’s Primary School spent the day as toy testers at the city’s White Rose Shopping Centre.
The group of six and seven-year-olds were given free reign to play with toys from stores such as Disney and Debenhams.
And, after receiving a ‘thank you’ from Santa for their efforts, they compiled a top 10 wish list of their favourite products.
Number one on their chart was a remote control quad bike from a recently-opened store at the centre called The Entertainer.
Runners-up spot went to a robotic Furby character, also available from The Entertainer.
Coming in third, meanwhile, was a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Master Moves Mickey from Argos.
Other items on the list included a cash register from the Early Learning Centre and a Rudolph the Reindeer toy from Build-A-Bear Workshop.
Centre manager Dean Stratton said: “This was a great opportunity for local school pupils to sample the must-have toys available right here in White Rose and for them to get a glimpse of what they would like Santa to bring them this Christmas.
“The findings of the testers will help mums and dads across the city by providing a definitive list of the must-have toys for Christmas 2012, many of which I’m sure will be on a lot of wish lists this year.
“All the products on the list are available at stores within our centre, making it easier for parents to help Santa find those all-important presents.
“What’s more, we all know how difficult children can be to buy for when there are so many toys to choose from so we hope our official list proves to be a foolproof guide for any shoppers who are trying to decipher what children will be hoping Santa brings them on Christmas morning.”
The opening hours of the White Rose grotto are 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. It will be open 11am to 3pm on Christmas Eve.
