Leeds pipped to funniest city accolade

Leeds has been pipped by Birmingham to be crowned the funniest city in the UK, according to a study.

Analysis of over three million social conversations combined with consumer research uncovered the laughter profiles of 25 towns and cities across the country resulted in Birmingham - famous for the likes of Jasper Carrott and Frank Skinner - coming out on top.

The land-locked city pipped Yorkshire’s unofficial capital to the top spot, according to the study by lastminute.com.

The top five was completed by Cardiff, Hull and Newcastle.

Fabio Cannavale, of lastminute.com, said: “The British sense of humour is very unique so it’s very interesting to see what makes the UK giggle and even more so the contrast in humour between different towns and cities.”
