Have your say

Meet the Bramley Mermaids – the modern Milion Dollar Mermaids.

In homage to the days of Hollywood icon Esther Williams, who starred in the 1950s romantic musical drama, they create site specific performances in water and on land, all influenced by real synchronised swimming techniques.

The mermaids have been swimming in Bramley Baths, Leeds, since 2013.

The founders of the group, called Yorkshire Life Aquatic, are professional actor Lucy Meredith and dancer and choreographer Zoe Parker.

Lucy said: “It’s a great way to exercise and it’s such a tight knit social group. This is such a lovely place to perform and it’s so much fun. We’ve created a real relationship with Bramley.”

These beautiful photographs were taken by Yorkshire Evening Post photographer Simon Hulme.
