A PE teacher who claims she was bullied out of her role at a secondary school told a court she was put on a “hit list” by the new head teacher.

Christine Johnson is suing Leeds City Council over claims that she was harassed and there was failure to protect her from stress while working at Morley High School in Leeds.

Mrs Johnson claims the bullying began after the appointment of new head teacher John Townsley in 2003.

She told Leeds County Court how a meeting was held and it was suggested that she give up her post to “make life easier” for her.

She told the hearing: “I will never forget that meeting. It was the start of my real fear because Mr Townsley’s reputation had come before him.

“Once he got hold of you, you were history. He was proud of his hit list.”
