Leeds: Pair arrested after car smash injures pedestrian

A pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a car mounted the pavement in Leeds city centre.

The 35-year-old man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary after being struck by a black Seat Toledo on Regent Street just after 1pm on Christmas Eve.

A red Vauxhall Corsa was also involved in the incident, according to West Yorkshire Police.

The drivers of the two vehicles, aged 34 and 23, were both arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and careless driving.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 01924 293047.
