Global hip hop superstar Talib Kweli appeared at Leeds City Museum on Saturday at a celebration of the history of the urban musical movement.

The 40-year-old New Yorker took part in a question and answer session following performances by local, national and international artists such as Donald D, DJ Supreme and the Abstract Orchestra.

The free event, which had been organised by awareness group Universal Zulu Nation, also included children’s workshops and DJ sets.

The showcase marks 41 years of hip hop culture.
