Leeds firefighters rescued a person from the River Aire this morning.

Leeds firefighters rescued a person from the River Aire this morning.

Firefighters rescued a person from the River Aire in Leeds city centre in the early hours of this morning.

They were called to Riverside Court near Call Lane at around 3.20am.

Specialist water teams from Leeds, Hunslet and Rothwell stations all helped with the rescue. They used throwing lines and a short extension to get the person out of the water.

West Yorkshire Fire Service said the person was left in the care of paramedics.
