Leeds drivers caught breaking the Highway Code by parking illegally

Drivers parking on a busy Pudsey road have been warned they could be breaking the law.

Police officers from the Leeds Outer West beat team issued a warning on social media following complaints about the situation on Bradford Road.

There have been several instances of cars parking on the 40mph route at night without displaying lights - an offence under the Highway Code.

Warning notices have been placed on the vehicles at fault, and officers will be monitoring the situation and issuing fixed penalty notices.

According to rule 249 of the Highway Code, all vehicles must display parking lights when left on a road or lay-by where the speed limit is 30mph or more.

Police are concerned that the problem could cause accidents when the cars are difficult to see in poor weather conditions.
