GENEROUS diners have served up support for local charities – raising £12,886.

The YEP-backed StreetSmart campaign saw diners at Leeds restaurants add a voluntary £1 to their bill for local homeless charities.

Rachel McAlley, campaign manager for StreetSmart Leeds, said: “The restaurants of Leeds worked hard to achieve this amount and we are extremely grateful.”

Money raised will go to Caring for Life, Teen Challenge, St George’s Crypt, St Anne’s Community Services and Leeds Women’s Aid.

Participating restaurants included The Olive Tree; Dish; Chino Latino; Harvey Nichols; Crafthouse; MeatLiquor; Salvo’s and The Granary Restaurant.

Sponsors Deutsche Bank paid for all of the administration fees and print materials for the StreetSmart campaign.
