A LEEDS dad blogger’s musings on his hapless attempts at parenting have proved popular on the internet – but reviews closer to home are less favourable.
Dad-of-two Julian Boffin’s NorthernDadBlog has been nominated for a national Brilliance in Blogging Award by BritMums, the UK’s largest parent blogging network.
But his stories of everyday life at home in Calverley are an embarrassment to his children Brodie, 12, Gracie, six, and wife Lisa Hamilton, 41.
Freelance writer Mr Boffin, 44, said: “My kids don’t like it. They don’t want to be mentioned at all. Especially with a boy of 12, he doesn’t want any attention bringing to him.
“It (the blog) is a pariah really. I think it’s the same with all dad bloggers.
“It is tolerated to a point. I have to clear it with them before it gets published so it gets edited down.”
In one recent blog called ‘Children: How to ignore them’, Mr Boffin wrote: “It is Saturday morning, and I’m doing what I always do on a Saturday morning; I am hiding in the toilet.
“It took my daughter only a few moments to find me, but I cherished each one.”
Mr Boffin is one of ten bloggers shortlisted for the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Award and just five will get through to the finals in London in June. To vote, go to https://surveymonkey.com/r/PD677L3
