A railway worker from Leeds has been chosen as the face of a nationwide Christmas campaign by Network Rail.

Barry Robinson, 54, from Seacroft, is helping to encourage people to ‘Check Before You Travel’, as the company prepares for a £150m festive investment programme to upgrade Britain’s rail network.

The dad-of-one, a track section manager based in Holbeck, will be one of over 20,000 working on the network this Christmas.

He said fronting the campaign was a welcome surprise: “It was a fantastic new experience. I’m proud to be involved because the important work we do in all weather often goes unseen.”
