An Indian restaurant in east Leeds has been voted the best curry house in West Yorkshire.
The Grand Indian Lounge in Swillington took the local honour at the Curry Life Awards in London, just months after owner Imran Choudhury won the Yorkshire Post’s Best Indian Restaurant title.
The Wakefield Road eatery was one of 11 curry restaurants and 24 specialist chefs from across the country given recognition at the gala dinner.
“I am very proud of our staff for having won our second award this year. The competition is always tough so it is a real honour to win,” said Imran.
“We had a nice evening in London and it was lovely to sit back and not worry about food for the evening. I could get used to that.”
The VIP guest was secretary of state for international development Priti Patel MP.
