Leeds’s most senior council officer has been named among the top 10 social media users in local Government.

Tom Riordan, chief executive of Leeds City Council, was named in the ‘WhatsAppening in #LocalGov social media?’ report.

Tom has 12,200 followers on Twitter, and the study found he reaches 128,000 users. It also found that 70 per cent of his posts are retweeted.

“His tweets mix promoting Leeds, various council initiatives and humour showing his effective social media voice,” the report said.

“His Q&A with a young professional business group, Yorkshire Mafia Young Guns...was lauded.”

Tom was praised for his “individuality” and “agenda setting”.
