Released this week, The Designers stars comedian Nick Mohammed, from Leeds, alongside other up-and-coming performers from across the country to raise awareness for Comic Relief.

The series, created by writers Daniel Audritt and Kat Butterfield, follows Mock the Week star Rhys James on his first day at Comic Relief, as he finds himself part of an enthusiastic but idiotic group of designers trying to come up with the next Big Nose design.

It has been released exclusively on Comic Relief’s YouTube channel, in the build up to Red Nose Day on March 24, when the nation’s top comedians and entertainers take to the stage in London live on TV for charity.

Mr Mohammed, a former pupil at Leeds’s Abbey Grange High School, has starred in TV comedy series on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 as well as appearing in 2016 film Bridget Jones’s Baby.

Comic Relief founder Richard Curtis said: “Red Nose Day has always benefited from the support of incredible British comic talent, so it seems right that this year we’re handing the mic over to some of the most exciting new names on the circuit, from writers to stand ups and actors.

“The special Comic Relief Live gigs and the new YouTube series are a chance to see the comedy stars of tomorrow in action.”

Red Nose Day returns on March 24 when people in Leeds will be joined by millions across the country donning the famous plastic noses for the annual appeal.

Organisers have now announced a bumper line-up of comedians, entertainers and celebrities who will take to the stage in aid of charity.

This year’s Red Nose Day BBC TV broadcast will feature comedians Joe Lycett and Lenny Henry and singer Ed Sheeran.

They will be among a series of acts to take to the stage in London for the TV marathon on March 24 to raise money for good causes.

It will also feature sketches, digital games and online features.
