Leeds ‘barn fire’ report turns out to be rubbish

Firefighters were called after a large rubbish fire was reported near a barn.

Crews were initially told there was a building on fire at Leeds Road, Lofthouse, at 11.17am today (Thursday).

On arrival, they discovered the large plumes of smoke coming from rubbish at the rear of the building.

Four engines from Hunslet and Wakefield attended.

Two jets were used to extinguish the blaze and crews left at 12.18pm.
