LEEDS band Kaiser Chiefs have gone straight to the number one spot in the album chart.

Their fifth album, Education, Education, Education and War debuted at number one yesterday, knocking X Factor winner Sam Bailey’s debut, The Power of Love, into second place.

As reported in the YEP, the Kaisers were just 44 copies ahead of Bailey on Friday, according to official sales figures.

The band performed on The Voice on Saturday, where frontman Ricky Wilson’s act Christina Marie lost out in the final to Jermain Jackman.

Wilson was a mentor on the third series of the talent show.

The final drew its lowest ever average audience for a final show at 6.6million – down more than 500,000 viewers on last year.
