A state of the art £28m leisure centre will open in north Leeds on Saturday. (October 12)

Holt Park Active, which has a gym, hydrotherapy and 25-metre pools, dance studio, garden, sports hall and disabled facilities, opens at 9am on Saturday.

The centre on Holtdale Approach will also host activities for older people and those with physical or learning disabilities.

Mark Robinson, centre manager, said: “We’ve wanted to provide this service – a community hub – for a long time and now the dream has been realised.”

Coun Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure, said: “It’s a high quality building that the whole community can use.”
