Your chance to transform the lives of Leeds children

.

.

Yorkshire Evening Post readers are being urged to dig deep to help transform the lives of Leeds’s most vulnerable children.

Over the last week the YEP has reported on a number of disturbing issues facing thousands of young people growing up in the city.

Shocking new research reveals a vicious cycle of child poverty in Leeds and reports that one in five children do not agree with the statement “I enjoy my life”.

Leeds Community Foundation, who compiled the report, has launched a new Children and Young People Fund to support some of the city’s most vulnerable youngsters.

And now we are calling on our loyal readers to pledge their support to the fund as the city strives to become one of the most child friendly places in the country.

Sally Anne Greenfield from Leeds Community Foundation said: “The Foundation’s findings have brought the shocking issues which are facing Leeds young people to the forefront and identified the work that still needs to be done to become the UK’s Best City for Children by 2030.

“We hope that the research has also highlighted some of the great Leeds projects that are working hard to improve the lives of children and that this appeal will inspire people to support their local community.

“We are calling on YEP readers and businesses to donate what they can to support the Children and Young People’s Fund and help us reach our fundraising target of £100,000.

“The Fund will allow us to invest in a wide range of community projects that will improve children’s general health, living circumstance and life chances.

“No matter what size of donation you want to make we will ensure that the money is given in the people who need it most.”
