Harrogate’s Rudding Park Hotel is helping put Yorkshire on the map after it was voted the best hotel in the UK and fourth in the top hotels in the world.
The hotel was also voted second in the top hotels of Europe based on opinions gathered from thousands of guests’ reviews by the TripAdvisor company.
It is the third time in the last four years that Rudding Park has won the national award.
Peter Banks, managing director at Rudding Park said: “Winning this national award three times in the last four years is a tremendous achievement.
The fact we are also placed as a top hotel in Europe and The World is a wonderful accomplishment for the whole team.”
Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said last night: “This is an incredible achievement, and one that is richly deserved.
“Yorkshire’s quality hotels stand out from the rest of the UK and Rudding Park is a great example of a hotel that is constantly looking to raise the bar,” he said.
“TripAdvisor is once again thrilled to recognise the world’s most outstanding hotels with the help of more than 75 million reviews and opinions from travellers around the globe,” said Christine Petersen, president, TripAdvisor for Business.
Two Yorkshire B&Bs made it into the world top 10 B&Bs - All Seasons Guest House, Filey, North Yorkshire, was sixth and St Michael’s Guest House, Scarborough, seventh.
The Caribbean in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, got into the top 10 best-bargain hotels – in eighth place, while Swinton Park, Masham, was placed in the top ten of the UK’s top hotels.
