Yorkshire girl, 7, is new face of M&S
Ella Greensmith.
MOVE over Twiggy – Yorkshire schoolgirl Ella Greensmith is eyeing your crown as the queen of Marks & Spencer.
Ella, aged seven, from Sandal in Wakefield, has been given a starring role in a new M&S advertising campaign.
She is one of four youngsters who will appear in ads for the retail giant’s kidswear range from September onwards.
They were picked after coming up trumps in a competition called Do Your Thing, run by M&S in conjunction with ITV.
Children could enter the contest by submitting one-minute videos in which they showed off a particular talent or passion – and just under 600 nationwide rose to the challenge.
Ella caught the eye of a panel of judges that included photographer Rankin by demonstrating her flair for art and drawing in her video, which can be viewed at: www.itv.com/marksandspencer website.
The Dane Royd Primary School pupil’s mum, Victoria Greensmith, said today: “All the family are proud of Ella.
“We encouraged her to enter Do Your Thing because art is what she loves the most and it’s fantastic to see her triumph in something she is so passionate about.”
Karl Doyle, director of kidswear at M&S, said: “We are delighted with the fantastic response to the competition.
“We were extremely impressed with the mixture of talents and passions of all the kids that entered.
“We are looking forward to working with Rankin next season to show our exciting, on-trend, high fashion kidswear ranges on our uniquely talented winners.”
Sixties model Twiggy has starred in a string of recent adverts for M&S alongside other famous faces such as Myleene Klass and Erin O’Connor.
* Marks & Spencer has a long-standing relationship with Yorkshire – it began life when Michael Marks opened a stall at Kirkgate Market in Leeds in 1884 with a sign next to it saying “Don’t Ask the Price, It’s a Penny”.
