More than £600 of edible goodies have been donated to a homelessness charity by a North Yorkshire food brand.

The hearty handover by Richmond-based Stowaways was made to ensure that St George’s Crypt has meals available during the winter months.

St George’s Crypt, in Great George Street, gives over 45,000 meals every year to disadvantaged people in the city, while also offering up to 36 bed spaces for the homeless.

Keith Tindell, managing director of Stowaways, said: “Our contribution may be a drop in the ocean, but will hopefully go some way in combating hunger on the streets.”

Cheryl Harrington, from the charity, said: “Without support and food donations from local companies such as Stowaways, we would find it difficult.”
