Yorkshire Evening Post readers are being urged to back Emmerdale’s bid to be named best soap at next week’s National Television Awards.
The Leeds-based programme is up against Coronation Street, EastEnders and Hollyoaks in the serial drama category of the event.
And Emmerdale cast member Liam Fox is hoping support from the show’s home patch will prove crucial in the online vote that will decide the winner.
Liam, who plays Dan Spencer, told the YEP: “It will be nice if people get behind us.
“The viewing figures and the audience share have been going brilliantly.
“It’s about time Emmerdale got the recognition it deserves.”
Liam is also hoping to bag an individual prize at the awards ceremony.
He is up for best newcomer, having proved a big hit with fans since joining Emmerdale last year.
Major storylines for the 42-year-old’s character have included marrying Chas Dingle ahead of the soap’s 40th anniversary live episode in October.
“I am very lucky,” said Liam. “Emmerdale’s a special place to work, there’s a real team feeling.”
