Worker cleared of home assault

A NURSING home worker said she has “lost faith” in the system after she was cleared of assaulting a 101-year-old resident.

A jury at Leeds Crown Court found Sharon Parkinson, 43, of Heseltine Close, Normanton, not guilty of causing bruising to the arm of Rose Trigg at Ashgrove House, in Wakefield. Afterwards, she said she was considering her legal options, adding: “My life has been torn to bits with this charge hanging over me. I’ve lost faith in the caring system.”

Letters of testimony read on her behalf included one from a 98-year-old man who she resuscitated after he collapsed.
