Window cord tragedy of Leeds toddler
A young family are in mourning after the death of their three year old daughter in an accident believed to involve a window blind cord.
Ambulance and police were called to the home of Emily James and Jonathan Middleton in Willow Grove, Kippax, Leeds, on Friday afternoon after their daughter Evie was found collapsed.
Paramedics are believed to have battled to revive the little girl.
She was taken to Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The couple are believed to have another daughter, Leila, who is five.
Yesterday the family were not at home at their modern end town house in the quiet cul de sac, though a large white panel van was parked outside.
Neighbours were also in shock after learning of the little girl’s death.
One woman, who did not want to be named, said she had dashed across to be with Emily when she saw the ambulance and police crews arrive and Evie’s body carried out of the house.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said that at 5.26pm on Friday officers were called to an address on Willow Grove, Kippax, following concerns for the health of a three year old girl.
The child was rushed to Pinderfields Hopsital where she died a short time later. A file has been prepared for the Coroner in anticipation of an inquest.
