What’s On: Summer events for children in Leeds

The Breeze Arts Festival is set to finish in Leeds on Sunday.

But here are a selection of just some of the events on offer for children:

FRIDAY

* The Deciding Machine by the Pyramid of Arts at the Customer Services Lounge, in Trinity Leeds, from 11am until 4pm.

An unusual game which you will discover that all decisions, no matter how small, can have surprising consequences. Free admission.

* Lego animation workshop at Leeds Town Hall from 10am until 2pm. Make your very own Lego movie animation with InspirEd.

Free admission but parents should book in advance on 0113 224 3801.

* Special effects make-up for stage and TV at First Floor, 6 St Peter’s Buildings, Leeds, from 10.30am to 2pm.

Learn the tricks of the trade to create realistic scars, wounds and bruises complete with a backstage tour of West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Free admission but visitors should book in advance on 0113 224 3801.

* Build a rocket powered drag racing car at Compton Road Library, Harehills Lane, Leeds from 1pm to 3pm. Free admission and just turn up.

* Revolutionary Art exhibition launch at The Tetley, on Hunslet Road, from 4pm to 6pm.

The Tetley has worked with young people to produce an exhibition of their art work.

Free admission, just turn up.

SATURDAY

* Street Art, break-dance, beatbox, double-dutch competitions at the Corn Exchange in Leeds from 12.30pm to 5pm.

Free admission with a Breezecard, just turn up.

* Calling all Dr Who fans at Garforth Library from 2pm to 3pm.

Test your Timelord knowledge with Mark Wright, co-author of Who-ology, the ultimate guide to Dr Who.

Free admission but booking is essential. Contact 0113 224 3291.

* Pedal power at The Tetley, in Leeds, between 11am and 2pm.

Tell the Tetley what you want using the power of revolving pedals.

Take part in workshops run by young people that use bicycle powered generators to create art installations.

Free admission, just turn up.

MINI BREEZE

The Mini Breeze on Tour, which features inflatables and arts and crafts for children, will visit: Springhead Park, in Rothwell, today from noon until 4pm.

It will also visit Garforth Academy on Monday, July 28, from 1pm to 5pm.
