Artist Alan Flood has served up a king-sized treat for customers at a Leeds restaurant.

Alan’s newly-unveiled painting, China, at the North Sea eaterie in Stanningley is no less than 42ft long.

And he admits its epic proportions were the result of a glass of wine or three with the Chinese restaurant’s managers, Alvin Chim and James Wan-Hu.

Alan, who lives in Horsforth and is a regular at the North Sea, said: “We were talking over a meal about me doing something and at first we agreed the work should be about 10ft long.

“After a few glasses of wine and good Cantonese cuisine, we were all in full agreement that it ought to be 42ft long!”

China comprises 14 panels, each measuring three sq ft, and took three months to complete. It was unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Coun Rev Alan Taylor.
