A LORRY driver has been airlifted to hospital following a crash on the M62 today.

The entire motorway was closed between junction 24 at Ainley Top and junction 25 at Brighouse following the crash at 12.50pm.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said that three heavy goods vehicles were involved in the smash in the second lane of the westbound carriageway.

One of the drivers was airlifted to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with injuries to their back.

A police spokesman confirmed that the driver’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Drivers were being advised to avoid the westbound carriageway.

Police later said two lanes of the carriageway had reopened after recovery work at the scene of the collision.

The motorway was expected to be fully reopened by early evening.
