Tickets for the 2013 Great Yorkshire Show go on sale tomorrow (March 1) with a promise that the Yorkshire Agricultural Society is planning to make the event as weatherproof as possible following last year’s washout.
A budget of £500,000 is being set aside for measures to protect the show, from July 9 to 11 at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, from bad weather. That will include extra roadways, drainage systems and hard standing around car park gateways. More land may also be made available for additional car parking around the site for the show, which will mark the 175th anniversary of the first event.
Most of last year’s traders, who were there for just one day because of the weather, have re-booked for this year.
