Objectors raised concerns that the turbine would dominate the landscape. One supporter claimed the turbine was an appropriate size for the farm.

Urban Wind Limited has submitted plans to build a 22.6m high turbine at Whitley Farm on Green Lane, Netherton.

A report to Wakefield Council stated Sitlington Parish Council and Coun Lawrence Kirkpatrick (Labour/ Wakefield Rural) raised concerns, stating: “The turbine will ruin the environment and harm recreation. It will be an eyesore.”

Agent Adele Ellis said that the development could produce approximately 247,000 kwh of energy per year. The council received 59 letters of objection against the plans. Councillors have been recommended to refuse both applications. They will be discussed at a planning meeting next Thursday.
