Wakefield man got 13-year-old pregnant
A MAN has been locked up for having sex with a 13-year-old girl who became pregnant.
Thomas Parkin, 20, was confirmed as the father when the girl's pregnancy was terminated and the foetal remains examined, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor Mehran Nassiri said Parkin knew how old the girl was when he had sex with her on a golf course in Ossett near Wakefield in January.
The pregnancy was terminated the following month.
Parkin, of Horbury Road, Ossett, near Wakefield, admitted a charge of sexual activity with a child.
Robin Frieze, for Parkin, said: "The defendant is honest enough to say that, not withstanding the knowledge of her age, he was infatuated with her."
Judge Geoffrey Marson QC sentenced Parkin to four-and-a-half-years in a Young Offenders Institution.
Parkin's name will be on the sex offenders' register for life.
An order was made banning him from ever working with children, having contact with the young girl or unsupervised contact with anyone under 18.
