Wakefield: Free legal advice at new £3m centre

Free legal advice will be on offer from next month at a multi-million pound one-stop centre in Wakefield.

The city centre project, run by local solicitors Switalskis and Wakefield Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), will open on October 1.

More than 3m will be invested in the new Wakefield Community Legal Advice Service over the next three years by the Legal Services Commission and Wakefield Council.

The centre, at the Wakefield CAB's King Street offices, will offer all levels of legal help, from general advice to representation at court on debt, housing, employment, welfare benefits, community care and family law.

Advice sessions will also take place in Castleford, Pontefract and Hemsworth.
