Wakefield drug smuggle plotter wins appeal ruling
A WAKEFIELD man jailed for 19 years over a multi-million pound drugs smuggling plot has won the right to challenge his conviction.
Daljit Singh Jandu, 42, of Wesley Street, Wakefield, was convicted after a Customs swoop on a lorry in Dover in February 2007 which netted a 2m drugs haul.
But this week, he won the right to challenge his conviction in London's Appeal Court.
Jandu was handed the jail term at Canterbury Crown Court after he was convicted of involvement in importing amphetamines and ecstasy in June last year.
