Top television presenter Gabby Logan will return to her roots to tackle a sports awards show.
The Leeds-born sports presenter will host the BBC’s Sports Personality Of The Year, which will be held at the First Direct Arena in Gabby’s hometown of Leeds.
The star-studded event will see the biggest sports stars descend on the city for the 60th annual awards on Sunday, December 15.
Gabby, 40, said: “It is the first time Leeds has hosted Sports Personailty of the Year so as a Leeds lass I am very proud to be part of the presenting team alongside Clare Balding and Gary Lineker.”
Gabby, 40, will take over the reins from Sue Barker, who had previously hosted the show for 19 years.
Mum-of-two Gabby added: “I am thrilled to be hosting Sports Personality but to do it for the first time in Leeds is really special.
“Leeds needs an arena like that and to broadcast live from there will be magical.
“This year has been a brilliant sporting year with such successes, including plenty of Leeds and Yorkshire people who have done us proud. We have been desperate for the Brownlee brothers to win their races and Nicola Adams is a star.
“Her smile always lights up a room. But who will be the winner?”
Gabby, who is also chancellor of Leeds Trinity University, will present the live broadcast alongside Gary Lineker and Clare Balding.
Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport, said: “We’re delighted to have her on board.”
