The rich history of the Rugby League World Cup will be displayed in Leeds this month, as the city prepares to host two games in this year’s tournament.
In recognition of the 14th instalment of the famous tournament coming to Leeds, Leeds City Council and Leeds Rugby Foundation Heritage Project is hosting a free exhibition at Leeds Central Library from today until September 30.
Memorabilia, video clips, talks and interactive activities will also mark Leeds’s involvement in the world cup through the years, with displays in memory of world cup veteran John Holmes among others.
This year’s competition kicks off at the Millennium Stadium, in Cardiff, on October 26, before Leeds’s Headingley Carnegie Stadium hosts games on November 8 and 15.
