VIDEO Leeds cheerleaders prove sky's the limit

THEY flew through the air with the greatest of ease - and are on a mission to get West Yorkshire's youngsters to join them.

Aviator Allstars is a community project aimed at getting children and young people active through the sport of cheerleading.

Team members spent Saturday at The Light, in Leeds, to show off their skills in the hope of attracting some new Allstars.

The Allstars programme was founded by Rachel Pearson and Tim Peffers, both former members of Leeds University's cheerleading team, Leeds Celtics Cheerleaders.

Since graduating, they combine running the Allstars with coaching the uni team, and have led the students to more than 15 national and European titles.

Rachel, 22, said: "We are already coaching in one Leeds school and a college, and the sessions have been packed. It is great fun, great for fitness and good for confidence as well."

Tim, 25, said that the Allstars work with young people aged four to 25, and size or physique is not an issue.

He said: "If you are well built you can throw people into the air, if you are of thinner build you can be the one that gets thrown. "Come to one of our demos for a chat, give it a go and you'll find out how addictive cheerleading can be."

The Allstars will be at the university's Freshers Fair tomorrow. (WEDS 24) then will be holding demonstrations in venues across Leeds. For more information visit www.aviatorallstars.com, e-mail frontdesk@aviatorallstars.com, or ring Tim on 07875 078 695.
