THE school stars of popular TV series Educating Yorkshire were down at Leeds Town Hall to launch the Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10k.

Teachers and students from Dewsbury’s Thornhill Academy officially opened entries for the race, which takes place on July 20.

The school is to enter a team of over 30 in the run - sparking a friendly rivalry as pupils take on their teachers to see who’s fastest.

Headteacher Jonny Mitchell was at the Town Hall launch, along with Matthew Burton and year 11 pupils Leah Earnshaw and Jack Ryder, both 16.

Mr Mitchell said: “It’s a great opportunity for staff and students to support a brilliant event and raise money for an excellent cause.

“Jane Tomlinson was a true local hero and her legacy continues to inspire so many people.”
