Two men have been released without charge after being spoken to by police following a woman’s claim that she was assaulted in Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police appealed for information after 30-year-old Lyndsay Gudger, from east Leeds, sustained a head injury while on a night out in the city centre on Sunday, September 15. Mother of two Miss Gudger claimed she had been attacked by two men following an altercation in the early hours as she made her way home.
She later received hospital treatment for her injuries.
CCTV images of two men who police wanted to speak to were subsequently released by investigating officers. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed that a 20-year-old and a 21-year-old were arrested on Tuesday after presenting themselves at Killingbeck police station.
After being questioned by officers, the Crown Prosecution Service took the decision that the men should face no further action and they were released without charge.
It is understood the decision was reached after a detailed examination of CCTV footage from the scene.
The police spokesman confirmed that the two men who were the subject of the original appeal are no longer being sought.
