A post-mortem report show ed Tom had died of sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (Sads).

He had previously shown no signs or symptoms that anything was wrong.

His parents were shocked to learn that each week in the UK at least 12 apparently 'fit and healthy' young people die from undiagnosed heart conditions.

But using a simple electrocardiogram (ECG) test, many abnormalities can be easily detected.

The Reids hope to raise enough money to fund an ECG testing session where young people in Garforth can have their hearts screened.

Mr Reid added: "It's great to be able to raise awareness with the pupils and to raise some funds for our appeal."
