Pop music fans in Leeds can look forward to a massive pre-Christmas party at the city’s new First Direct Arena.
Stars appearing at the concert on Sunday, December 1, at the £60m venue will include Example, The Saturdays, Eliza Doolittle, Conor Maynard and The Vamps.
The family-friendly event will be the first to be held at the 13,500-capacity arena by 96.3 Radio Aire.
And bosses at the station hope it will prove every bit as successful as the Party in the Park shows they help stage each summer in the grounds of Temple Newsam House.
Content controller Euan McMorrow told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “We are extremely happy to be able to invite everyone to the best Christmas party in Leeds.
“The acts we have announced today will get the entire arena singing and dancing.”
He added: “Radio Aire is very excited about our first event in the First Direct Arena, we can’t wait to see everyone having a good time on the night.”
More acts are due to be confirmed for the concert in the coming weeks.
The First Direct Arena was officially opened with a sell-out concert from Sir Elton John earlier this month.
Other artists playing its opening season include Rod Stewart (September 24) and Micky Flanagan (September 27).
Acts appearing at the arena during the run-up to Christmas, meanwhile, include Boyzone, Status Quo, Wet Wet Wet, Andre Rieu and JLS.
It will also be hosting the high-profile BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony on December 15.
The arena has been developed by Leeds City Council and is being operated by private firm SMG Europe.
Experts estimate the Clay Pit Lane-based venue will generate £25m a year for the city’s economy.
Details about tickets for the Xmas Live bash are available at the www.radioaire.co.uk website.
96.3 Radio Aire organises Party in the Park in conjunction with Leeds City Council, with media partnership support from the YEP.
More than 30,000 fans attended this year’s event, which featured top-rated chart names such as Olly Murs, Dizzee Rascal, Professor Green and Blue.
